i know she has been around for a bit, but seriously, claudy jongstra's felt pieces might be the coolest thing ever.
i mean she keeps her own herd of sheep! i recently held one of her samples and it is even more amazing in person!

barrie bensen's bedroom, featured in domino this month (and blogs the world over), has such a great mix. i have already stated my affinity for this sort of rug and now i am crazy about the blanket. the combo of the morrocan rug and the scottish blanket is so good. i am very happy to have bensen's resource, the scottish weaver. there are so many great tartans to choose from...

i stumbled across these little stools while browsing at rose and radish. by wetter indochine, these stools are only 10" high by 11" wide. we use things like this in our house all the time. i love having something light weight to move around to hold my drink or plate.
some other color choices...

i love candle light, but as a rule i can not stand scented candles. i had a roommate who returned one day with a blueberry candle and i bumped it out the window. but i have found one that i love, seda france's french tulip.
the travel tins are great!

it is just not fair that ireland is so beautiful. and so far away from la. how cool is this house in county leitrim that is featured in today's nytimes?
with a grass roof and reflective glass sides the house camouflages in its gorgeous surroundings. according to the owners if you look for the house on google earth it looks like a blip on the terrain, "a bad photoshop job"...i love that!

barrie benson's bedroom featured in this month's domino (and blogs the world over!) has such a great mix. i've already expressed my love for this type of rug. now i am really into the combo of the moroccan rug and the tartan blanket!
i am so happy to have gained benson's resource, the scottish weaver. this could be the thing to bring our bedroom into fall, only $67.95 for a 54" x 72" wool blanket! below are some of the 50 different tartans available.

i spent last night checking out all the prints of amazing photos and drawings available at the house & garden store. each print can be ordered framed or unframed and in sizes ranging from 12" x 15" to 32" x 40". i had to severely edit which pics i posted, there are so many good ones and more are scheduled to be added in the coming months!
can you imagine a current magazine having as graphic a cover as the one above from 1947?
a great range is available, from covers like this one, to beautiful photographs and inspiring interiors. the two below remind me of one of my favorite recent images...
and how chic and current are these two spots, both from the 50's..
and imagine the impact of these two shots below blown up to giant size...

i bought at home with books after admiring it on brilliant asylum. i was so psyched when it arrived to see that it was written by a friend on my parents and has renderings of my high school library! i would be lying if i claimed to have spent a lot of time there, but it is a beautiful building...
the image above from designer joan vass's library is gorgeous. and i love seeing meret oppenheim's table with bird legs...one of my faves! a touch of the surreal is such a great element.
the image below from keith richard's library in connecticut makes me feel so much better about the clutter in my house that drove me to tears this past weekend...

i spent the weekend checking out all the courses at yestermorrow design/build school, a school in vermont that has 1-2 week courses on design and construction.
"yestermorrow inspires people to create a better more sustainable world by providing hands on education that integrates design and craft as a creative interactive process."
i always wish i knew more about building when i am talking to contractors and cabinet makers, now i have my chance. there are so many courses i want to try! from building with cob, strawbale and more to sustainable communities of the future...who wants to share a cabin with me?
