i just spotted this lamp on a design sponge sneak peek. i can't wait to get one! it is a castiglioni design that is being produced by flos. the bulb is sand blasted on one side to diffuse the light and the extra cord wraps around the base. it might be the perfect lamp.
get it here in all these colors.
this card came in the christmas gift from knoll textiles. i love this drum and am so happy to have been turned on to graphic designer herbert matter. besides working for knoll, matter designed for conde nast, the swiss national tourist office, charles and ray eames and made a film about alexander calder that was scored by john cage.
a recent exhibit on matter at stanford had this to say (his work) "wasn't done in photoshop...this was done in the darkroom, with masks, knives and imagination."
i didn't know anything about talisker, but i was totally drawn to this shot. it reminds me of when my grandfather would set up a grill at the top of the mountain and we'd have a hamburger picnic. i love the sun chairs in the snow!
turns out the talisker photo shoot was shot by peter lindbergh and patrick demarchelier.
anyway, off to mammoth in the morning for a long weekend!
this bike from free city would be such a great christmas present! if only i had more places to ride. I have a sad vision of this awesome bike sitting in the driveway next to my knitting machine and old paint cans.
