the bernard rudofsky exhibit opens at the getty today! i never knew that there was such an interesting man behind the sandals. this is what the getty has to say about him...
bernard rudofsky (american, 1905–1988, born in austria) was an
architect, curator, critic, exhibition designer, and fashion designer
whose entire oeuvre was influenced by his lifelong interest in people's
concepts about the body. he is as well known for his controversial
exhibitions and publications as he is for the design of the popular bernardo sandals in the 1950s and 1960s...lessons from bernard rudofsky
illustrates rudofsky's thought process through the diverse presentation
of sketches, architectural models, travel notebooks, photographs,
sculptures, fabrics, and footwear...

another year has gone by and still no zara home in the us and it doesn't sound like we are going to be in luck anytime soon... i am not crazy in love with the new catalog, though i could imagine it as an awesome hotel!
i have long been a fan of christien meindertsma and flocks. (the sweaters with sheep identity cards are brilliant.) these pics of a yarn investigating trip to kyrgyzstan are so cool..I have long been dreaming of a textile tour to that part of the world. i want to have that same car and pile it high with my finds! i would also love to have one of flocks amazing poofs!
