i know she has been around for a bit, but seriously, claudy jongstra's felt pieces might be the coolest thing ever.
i mean she keeps her own herd of sheep! i recently held one of her samples and it is even more amazing in person!

i stumbled across these little stools while browsing at rose and radish. by wetter indochine, these stools are only 10" high by 11" wide. we use things like this in our house all the time. i love having something light weight to move around to hold my drink or plate.
some other color choices...

it is just not fair that ireland is so beautiful. and so far away from la. how cool is this house in county leitrim that is featured in today's nytimes?
with a grass roof and reflective glass sides the house camouflages in its gorgeous surroundings. according to the owners if you look for the house on google earth it looks like a blip on the terrain, "a bad photoshop job"...i love that!

i have not been able to get this image (vogue, july 2007) of emma jane pilkington's screened room out of my head! i want it real bad. i love the supports as shelves, the long table...i was also thinking it would be good to do with fiberglass instead of screen. i seem to be more obsessed with the secondary structures than an actual house...yurt, teepee, wee house, i want them all!!!! house? seems like a lot of work.

i love fires, and i love friends, friends that make really good fire pits? so cool! i speak from many hours of experience sitting around a box a fire', so i can tell you there is nothing nicer.
now that summer is winding down it is time to start getting excited for fall. buy a pit and tell your friends!

we stayed the most amazing manor house in county cork last september, farron house. there is a bar setup in the billard room where you can make a gin and tonic and leave the payment in a can. the entire house is decorated with such a nice eye, the four bedrooms are each so beautiful, the bathrooms are huge...and the rugs throughout are fantastic!
the medival castle and abbey of kilcrea is just across the way and is so lovely...

these sconces from west elm are just the kind of lights that i am into at the moment, at a fraction of the price! the silver version and the standing light are on sale...

i was so psyched to see yesterday's article in the nytimes about tepees! not only are they the coolest thing around but they are pretty affordable. when i finally buy a house i think a $2000 guest house is going to sound pretty good...and then you can only have overnight guests that are cool enough to want to sleep in it!
coincidentally someone at work was ordering a gift from nomadic tipi earlier this week...tepees must be floating around the collective unconscious! the image below reminds me of one of my other favorite guest houses to be...so cozy!
the buffalo hide tepee below is pretty awesome, and it is definitely worth checking out the rest of the site!

i am now totally coveting a piece by michael phelan. his work is large tie-dye like circles dyed on stretched linen, how cool is that. the series, the best way out is though, is high impact, large canvases and bright colors...i would give up a lot of what i own to have one...
his house in marfa, tx is featured in the new domino.

have any of you ever tried an ebay live auction? because i am obsessed with this whale vertebrae... it is almost 3 feet wide!
the entire auction on marine and oriental export art at eldred's auction house is fun to browse. these brass ships lamps are pretty awesome.

i just read about these wildlife motion detection cameras on sub-studio. the cameras are triggered by heat and movement and will run for 21 days without running out of batteries. i have spent the afternoon thinking of funny spots to place one of these. i am definately going to find out what the dog does all day... plus they look awesome and are under $70.00!

this may be my favorite post yet! i have long loved polish posters, and i recently read about kim from desire to inspire's new cuban posters. it made me wonder about what great graphics other countries had to offer. a little googling came up with these amazing african posters! how incredible are the graphics? they are all from the original printing, some from the 60's, some more recent. go check out the rest, i had a hard time narrowing them down... these range from $30 to $200.

i have always loved john robshaw and the spring collection is insane. the mix of graphic black and white with ethnic prints in the picture above is so so good!
i really want one of the quilts to replace our comforter in the summer.

i am a huge fan of salvor, their eve balso wall hanging is on my top ten list of the past year. i think the idea behind the salvor shop kiosk is brilliant. simple products with good (usually graphic) design are sold grouped by country. you can get hair-pins and twine, notebooks and gargling salt... so far japan, sweden, mexico and germany haave been featured. south africa would be a great one to do next!

the jeep wagoneer is a design icon, and my dream car! ever since i read about the wagonmaster in men's vogue i have been coveting one even more... these old ads from adclassix are a great start!

i have a craving for a black velvet so i am reminiscing about the g. the black velvet is a mix of guinness and champagne, it was invented in london when prince albert died so that even the champagne would be in mourning. we stayed at the g on our honeymoon, sitting by the peat fire in the dove gray lounge with a black velvet is a most lovely afternoon. the silk velvet on the upholstery is incredible.
i also recommend irish breakfast in the pink room!
oh, and the spa is ridiculous! and i really don't usually like them...
